These United States are a leave-it-all-on-the-stage kinda band. Sweat and muscle and fast, beating hearts are central to their mojo, which is also redolent of heady 70s freewheeling, grifter minded canniness and a time when rock ‘n’ roll was whatever folks said it was not what a label or television executive called it. Their songs roll one up with sureness and their naked eagerness to connect with anyone willing to extend their open hand to them is winning as hell. DI best bud Jake Krolick caught up with TUS in Philly on September 9th, picked the brain of lead rabble-rouser Jesse Hughes and captured the essence of their live thang – all in under 10 minutes. What can we say except Krolick is good, especially with hoppin’ inspiration like These United States. They actually make us proud to be American. Fuck Lee Greenwood.
And don’t miss one of the sweetest, killer diller tour pairings this fall as TUS hits the road with another Impound beloved, Southeast Engine, currently underway and continuing through next Saturday, September 25th. Peep remaining dates here.
